Guest speaker announcement!

Steve Vander Ark to speak at Sectus 2007*
*subject to commitments

The organisers of Sectus 2007 are proud to announce that Steve Vander Ark, creator of the Harry Potter Lexicon website, will be a guest speaker at our event in London next July.

The Lexicon is widely considered to be the definitive resource for Harry Potter fans, and Steve has become renowned in fandom both for his encyclopaedic knowledge of canon and his infectious humour and enthusiasm.

"[The Lexicon] is such a great site that I have been known to sneak into an internet café while out writing and check a fact rather than go into a bookshop and buy a copy of Harry Potter (which is embarrassing). A website for the dangerously obsessive; my natural home." – J. K. Rowling

"[Steve is] the god of HP fandom... To put it bluntly, Steve is my new crush. He was just so funny and clever and fantastic, and the hour went by in a flash." – Liz, Accio 2005 attendee

"… as enthusiastic as any human can be without having the word "SQUEEE!" tattooed on his head." – Beth H, Lumos 2006 attendee

"Brilliant and witty lecture as always with Steve V. A. He's just a great storyteller. I don't even mind if I've heard some of his schtick before. He just reels you in with his enthusiasm and humour." – Mysduende, Lumos 2006 attendee

"The guy is such a terrific speaker as well as being a fandom staple, and he's nice as hell" – Amanuensis, Lumos 2006 attendee

Sectus 2007 will take place in Central London on July 19th-22nd 2007 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Harry Potter books. The conference will combine academic presentations, discussions and celebrations of fandom, set against the backdrop of a unique Wizarding Tournament. Look out for announcements of the Wizarding Tournament, its centrepiece Not the Yule Ball and exciting plans for events before and after the conference.

Tickets must be booked in advance our website. Take advantage of our special early bird rate of £45, available only until 31st October 2006.
